WELCOME to the home website of  Justin Sadur, illustrator and writer, and Lucre Comics. What is
Lucre Comics? It's . . . Justin Sadur, his computer, a cheap drawing desk and two cats. That's pretty
much it, just me in my converted dining room, working away with paintbrushes and ink-wash. It'd be
downright low-tech if it weren't for the computer and scanner.

About me:

Justin Sadur is a graduate of the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale with a degree in animation. Since graduation he has done precisely didley with his animation degree, instead concetrating on illustration and comics work. After failing to find any gainful employment as an animator or illustrator for two years, he decided that, what the heck, he'd wanted to start a comic book for a long time, and thus, "The Shuttered City" was born. The script was pounded out in a matter of a couple of months, but the art proved far more troublesome.

Because he is a crazy person, Justin decided to do the entire comic in ink wash. Yes, ink wash, the most unforgiving media of all. But how else was he to ahieve that chiaroscuro atmosphere he wanted so badly, surely doing an entire comic in ink wash wouldn't be that hard.

9 months later he staggered across the proverbial finish line, first issue in hand. Several pagedaCls had to be restarted from scratch, many others touched up with paint and pen, but as he worked, he learned, so let's hope he can get issue two out a bit faster, eh folks?

Justin lives in Florida, which prevents him from being a basement dweller, as houses here have no basements, but he has taken over the dining room and turned it into his personal studio, where he is constantly interupted in his work by two cats. One of them is sleeping on his desk right now, the other has comandeered his gym bag as a mattress.
